Meet Our Staff:
Ron Helten, DVM
Dr. Helten received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Kansas State University in 1970. He and his wife Dorothy have a son, Brian, and a daughter, Michelle. Dr. Helten is active in his church, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the West Wichita Optimist Club. He was raised on a farm west of Wichita. He has worked with animals all of his life. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association and the Wichita Veterinary Medical Association.

Dawn Baus, RVT
After working as a veterinary assistant in Valley Center, KS, Dawn attended Colby Community College's Veterinary Technology program. While there, she was a member of SVTA (the Student Veterinary Technology Association), Block and Bridle, and also a member of Colby's equestrian team. After working part-time and completing her preceptorship requirements at Helten Veterinary Clinic, Dawn graduated in May of 2006 with an Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. After passing her boards in June, she became a Registered Veterinary Technician. In May, she became a full-time member of our team.

Audrey Brake, RVT
Audrey received her Associates degree in Veterinary Technology at Colby Community College in May of 2006. While attending CCC, she was also a member of the cross-country and track teams. She worked for a small animal practice in Colby for 2 years before joining us in November 2006 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Outside of work Audrey spends her time with her son and dog.

Janice Bobbitt, Receptionist
Janice is married and has two grown children and three grandsons. She is currently semi-retired and working part-time as our receptionist. She has been with the clinic since October of 2006. Over the course of her career, she has always worked in an office. She was an office manager for over 10 years. "I have always enjoyed working with the public and being around animals. This job seems to fit perfectly into my life at this time."
